Rent-A-Center Names John Butler Vice President of Inventory Management

PLANO, Texas, Jul 20, 2010 (BUSINESS WIRE) --

Rent-A-Center, Inc. (NASDAQ/NGS:RCII), the nation's largest rent-to-own operator, today announced the appointment of John Butler to vice president of inventory management. Reporting to Dave West, executive vice president of operational services, Butler is charged with the procurement and placement of all store rental products. He is responsible for ensuring the right product is directed to the right store at the right time. "John brings a wealth of experience to a very important position," said West. "We're looking forward to utilizing his expertise."

Most recently, Butler was a senior vice president at Blockbuster where he held a variety of key positions during his 10-year tenure. Before joining Blockbuster, Butler worked for Trans World Entertainment, a retail music- and video-store chain. There, he led the company's merchandise-replenishment and reverse-logistics initiatives.

Earlier in his career, Butler served as the head of inventory control for Toys "R" Us, Canada, the retailer's first international market.

Butler earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Economics from The State University of New York at Albany.
