Rent-A-Center Rolls out Spring Fundraisers Benefitting At-Risk Children in TX & Nationwide

PLANO, Texas--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Mar. 29, 2016-- Coworkers of Rent-A-Center, Inc. (NASDAQ/NGS:RCII) and their children teamed up for the 5th annual Little Big Shot basketball tournament in Ft. Worth last weekend, launching a series of company-sponsored community events in honor of National Volunteer Month in April.

“Improving the quality of life for our coworkers and our customers is at the heart of our company’s mission,” said Rent-A-Center CEO Robert Davis, who credits youth athletic programs with building character, confidence and success in his own life.

All proceeds from Rent-A-Center’s team sponsorship in the Little Big Shot 3-point shootout benefitted tournament host HOPE Farm, whose after-school leadership programs mentor boys from single-parent households, helping them excel in mind, body and spirit.

Next up: More than 2,500 Rent-A-Center stores throughout the United States and Puerto Rico will join the Company’s annual Spring Egg fundraiser March 30-April 30 benefitting Big Brothers Big Sisters programs in their respective local communities. Since 2003, Rent-A-Center has raised more than $2 million on behalf of BBBS, the nation’s premiere donor and volunteer-supported youth mentoring organization.

And April 29 kicks off Rent-A-Center’s Plano, TX headquarters campaign to support the North Texas Food Bank in raising funds to feed hungry families. One in every four children in North Texas is food insecure, and elementary school children on free and reduced-price school meal programs often face hunger when these meals are not available over the summer.
