WASHINGTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 30, 2014-- Military-focused nonprofit Operation Supply Drop today received $5,000 worth of video-gaming systems from Rent-A-Center. The gaming systems are tied to a philanthropic initiative dubbed “Random Acts of Caring.” Launched in 2008, the Rent-A-Center initiative provides unexpected donations of merchandise, funding or gift cards to deserving nonprofits across the country. The systems will be used to create care packages full of video-gaming gear for troops, just in time for the holidays.

“We could not be more thrilled about the support from Rent-A-Center, which already has done so much to enhance the lives of our men and women in uniform through its support of various military-focused programs,” said Glenn “Commander” Banton, executive director of Operation Supply Drop. “Within a relatively short time, we have been blessed to become a highly regarded charity within video-game circles. This partnership with Rent-A-Center highlights that Operation Supply Drop also works very effectively with non-gaming organizations to deliver our popular, unique and much-appreciated service to our real-world heroes, deployed to hot spots around the world and recovering from their military-service related injuries.”

“Gaming is a unique and effective way to cope with stress, aid in rehabilitation, and lighten the mood of servicemen and women deployed abroad and recovering from service-related injuries here at home,” said Kenneth Jones, Rent-A-Center’s public affairs manager. “Today marks the 99th Random Act of Caring undertaken since Rent-A-Center launched this initiative to support the communities it serves.”
